The restoration of Australia’s oldest tall ship, the Alma Doepel is currently underway in Melbourne’s Docklands.
The project aims to restore the ship to her former glory and recommence youth sail training on the Victorian Coast. The Cost of the Project is $3.3 million, to-date $2.1 million has been raised through sponsorships and donations. The remaining $1.2 million required to finish the project is being sought.
At the core of the future Alma Doepel work is the delivery of 9 day Youth Sail Training Voyages. These voyages are designed for enable young people to learn about themselves, others and the maritime world. Building their life skills and resilience through a method that has been used for centuries the world over.

Free tram | BUS | TRAIN
The free tram zone includes routes 70, 86 and 35 (City Circle), with trams departing from The District Docklands (stop D11 – Docklands Drive) every 4 minutes. Southern Cross Station is just a walk over the Bourke Street pedestrian bridge from Harbour Esplanade.
A local bus route 220 will also drop visitors off at The District Docklands (Footscray Rd & Little Docklands Drive). Buses run every 15 minutes, 7 days a week.
Take the train to Southern Cross Station and walk over the Bourke Street pedestrian bridge to Harbour Esplanade. Walk or take the tram along Docklands Drive.

The District Docklands has two convenient car parks open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are visiting Melbourne and looking for an affordable car parking space, the Centre has multiple parking solutions on offer including corporate, short term, long term and event parking. Visitors and tourists can enjoy direct passage from the airport with the SkyBus Southbank Docklands Express offering a continuous looped service from 6am to 7pm, with a 30-minute frequency on weekdays and hourly service on weekends, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. SkyBus bookings are not required, plus the service offers free Wi-Fi on board and kids travel free with family ticketing. The SkyBus arrival stop is located on Docklands Drive right in front of The District Docklands, and the departure to the airport is directly opposite making it the most convenient airport transfer service in Melbourne.
Ferry – Port Phillip Ferries
Cruising daily between Docklands and Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula, Port Phillip Ferries is a passenger ferry service that connects people and experiences. Leave the car at home and enjoy a scenic and stress-free trip to The District Docklands.

Lessons are offered for several ice based sports and games including figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating and curling. If spectating is more your style, we host national and international figure skating events and are home to two Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) teams – Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs as well as the Melbourne Ice Women’s team (AWIHL).
The Icehouse includes a café, known as the Igloo Café, which serves a range of drinks and light snacks. Those looking for a unique venue can book private function rooms for corporate events, team buildings, private events and kid’s birthday parties.
First time skaters can hire skate aids to help them get around the ice. The rink also offers discount admission on Tuesdays (outside of the school holidays).
To get to O’Brien Group Icehouse, you can travel by car or there are a number of trams which travel to Waterfront City – stop D-11. Catch tram #70 from Flinders Street, tram #86 from Bourke Street or the city circle tram to the last stop. Walk along Docklands Drive and turn right at Pearl River Road. It is approximately 350 metres to our front door.

MAGNET (MAGNET Galleries Melbourne Inc.) is not-for-profit. At its core is a desire to preserve and celebrate the best of Australian photography and encourage excellence among established and emerging photographers.
