DOCKLANDS HARVEST FESTIVAL Docklands Harvest is a hands-on celebration of food and ideas, engaging locals and visitors in a unique program of food, entertainment and workshop activities.

ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM FRIDAY 5:00pm ? 9:00pm Roving entertainment 5:00pm ? 6:30pm DJ 6:30pm ? 8:30pm Velvet Archers Velvet Archers are a three – piece folk band hailing from Melbourne’s East. This foot stomping trio will have your ears tingling with joy one minute then working up at dance sweat the next. 8:00pm ? 8:30pm a wooden sculpture will be on display and set alight in a spectacular ceremonial burn. This will provide a preview to what will be on display at the winter event activation ? Docklands Firelight Festival (June 30, July 1 and July 2)

SATURDAY 11.00am – 2.50pm ? Roving entertainment, local Artists and buskers 3.10pm – 4.00pm – Cookin On Three Burners Cookin On 3 Burners are Australia?s hardest hitting Hammond Organ Trio ? joining the dots between Deep Funk, Raw Soul, Organ Jazz & Boogaloo.

FOOD Southside Smokers will be cooking dinner (brisket, pork, ribs) Friday night and lunch all day Saturday the Harvest Bar will be serving up a range of beverages including beer, wine and some hot pick me ups like plum brandy, mulled wine and cider.

WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Lantern making workshops will take place across Friday and Saturday. The lanterns will be used for the Docklands Firelight Festival program (winter activation). These workshops will run at Library at The Dock throughout June in the lead up to Firelight.

EASY PICKLING TO IMPRESS (My Green Garden) See how easy it is to make delicious pickles to bring out and enjoy with friends over a meal. Safe preserving techniques are covered while we make and taste some Middle Eastern inspired pickles.

THE AGE OLD ART OF PRESERVING (My Green Garden) Once only done by your nanna, now it’s really hip to make your own preserves to impress. We will look at the easiest – making chutneys and relishes and how to preserve them to keep.

EDIBLE GARDENS IN SMALL SPACES (Leaf, Root, Fruit) Having your own home grown produce is convenient, healthy and tasty. But what if you?ve only got a small space to work with? Duncan will share his experiences with growing food in small spaces. Explore novel ways to make the most out of the space that you have, including indoors. You?ll leave the session with the knowledge to ensure that your small space garden thrives.

TWIRLED PASTA MAKING (Twirled Pasta Bar) Twirled specialises in fresh, house made pasta dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Be sure to check out their demonstration of homemade traditional Veal Cappelletti.

TEA AND CHOCOLATE PAIRING (Tea Sense & Wawa Chocolatier) Join Vue de Monde?s original Tea Sommelier Sarah Cowell as she guides you on a tasting sensation through the world of beautiful teas and delicious locally made Wawa chocolate. Learn how to taste chocolate and tea like an expert and how to pair the two together to create a match made in heaven.

COFFEE APPRECIATION (Saluministi) If coffee is more your cup of tea, be sure to join the team from Suluministi and appreciate Italian coffee at its finest. These expert baristas will be presenting stove top coffee you can re-create in your own home.

RAW FOOD Learn how to make quick and simple raw desserts and super food snacks that are also paleo, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and packed with whole foods.

HYDROPONICS This beginners workshop will introduce you to growing vegies the hydroponics way at home explain the technology that makes it work and show you how you can put your balcony to work.

BBQ DEMOSTRATION (Southside Smokers) Introduction to cooking Low and Slow American style barbecue Matt Vitale from Southside Smokers resident smoker at Queen Victoria Market Night Market will talk and taste our way through what goes into making a great American style barbecue.

VIETNAMEESE DUMPLINGS (Otao Kitchen) Come along for the ultimate dumpling cooking experience as you immerse yourself in the culinary fun of dumpling making! The workshop is presented by Ha Nguyen, a passionate and talented chef with an amazing ability to engage and motivate the audience.

PROCHETTA ROLLS (Saluministi) Be sure to visit the team from Suluministi and enjoy their demonstration of hand made Porchetta Rolls. The authentic Italian Street Food experts will be sure to tantalize your taste buds!

HANDS ON GARDENING FOR KIDS (Sage Garden) A drop in gardening workshop for children and their families. The activity includes decorating a seed carry bag, planting a seasonal edible seed, with growing instructions for the participants to take home where they can begin to grow their own organic food. The families will also be able to have discussions and ask for advice from the presenter about growing their own food and gardening with children.

TAKE HOME TARRARIUMS (Work-Shop Melbourne) Master the art of terrarium making with one of Melbourne?s finest mini landscapers, Amy Wong from Petite Green. Learn about plant selection, soil composition, terrarium design and terrarium care, finishing up with your own unique terrarium to take home!
